If you have full hearing then the idea of either losing your hearing instantly could seem devastating and frustrating for you. The idea of getting older and losing your hearing over time could also be a concern, but don’t worry until it begins to happen. Having lost the ability to hear would mean you would either not bother with hearing again, and learn to either lip read or do sign language, both could be quite interesting to learn, and can also benefit the others in your immediate circle of friends and family. However if you have considered having a hearing aid, check out the low cost hearing aid products that are available and compare them to the more expensive ones

first before you just go and purchase them.

Also make sure that if you do intend purchasing a low cost hearing aid that it can be done with the referral of your ENT specialist. There are some companies out there that allow you to get the low cost hearing aid, but not via a referral so that their guarantees are allowed to fall away over a specified time. Ensure that you do get even a low cost hearing aid via the ENT specialist; this could save you a lot of money that you may have forked out originally with not going via them.

Be cautious who you deal with in getting your low cost hearing aid, as some places also classify certain hearing devices as a low cost hearing aid, which it definitely not. These hearing devices are not approved medically to be called a hearing aid.

Although you thought you would never totally hear again or at all, research into the cost of hearing aid should not be omitted. Your medical aid could probably have a payment plan, or even if you purchased it direct you could get a cheaper price and still make use of a payment plan if they are willing to accommodate you.

All Is Not Lost

Remember all is not lost just by losing your hearing, you still could have your sight and speech and other senses to make use of and rely on. For those who strictly depend on their hearing for their career better and more expensive hearing aids are available, even implants under the skin are done nowadays for hearing aids, which make life, seem so much more bearable with a bit of sound.
